Mullewa District High School (DHS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) to join their friendly team.

Mullewa has a swimming pool, recreation centre with a small gym, doctor’s surgery, hospital, two service stations - one with a mechanic, a food shop and three art galleries. Mullewa is 100km east of Geraldton where you can enjoy shopping, beaches and other social activities. Mullewa is the gateway to the Murchison and enjoys amazing wildflowers in the right season.

The Role
The successful applicant will work with the school to develop positive relationships with parents, carers and the local community. You will support the Leadership team to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan with the school’s parents, carers and local community.
The successful applicant will support students’ social and emotional needs and support improved attendance and engagement. You will work with students on literacy and numeracy in small intervention groups.
The successful applicant has the opportunity to develop leadership skills by working closely with the leadership team. You will also have a positive impact on our students and work with our families. You will be supported with professional development to enhance your skills and would have input into ensuring that we have culturally responsive practices in the school.
We are looking for someone who can build and maintain positive relationships with the families of Mullewa. Cultural understanding of the local Aboriginal community is highly desirable.
The successful applicant will ideally have the ability to use initiative and work independently as well as the ability to work collaboratively with staff and build positive relationships with students. Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Direct Instruction and Trauma Informed Practices is highly desirable.

Demonstrated ability to contribute to a school-level team and to provide multi-cultural direction in the development of the educational program, development of language resources, and evaluation of education and behaviour management programs.
Demonstrated ability to effectively assist teachers in implementing educational and behaviour management programs.
Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education
