Accountant (Part-Time 15-20 hours per week)

Job Description

We are looking for a motivated individual who will be responsible for providing comprehensive

daily/monthly accounting support. Our ideal candidate is honest and innovative with a passion for promoting justice–specifically as it relates to those impacted by mass incarceration. This candidate will report to our Fractional CFO.

Position Status: Part-Time with remote and in-person flexibility. All onboarding must be done in person. 15-20 hours per week. Occasional meetings must be attended in person.

All Square is seeking an Accountant to join our growing team.

● The Accountant will work in close collaboration with our Fractional CFO, and will be responsible

for the daily/monthly accounting tasks for the organization. This will include cash reconciliations,

revenue posting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries and preparation of

monthly statements for leadership.

● We deploy innovative interventions to transform the harms created by the criminal legal system.

We carry out our work through our four core pillars: our fellowship program, our craft grilled

cheese restaurant and food truck, our Prison to Law Pipeline program and our law firm

(collectively known as “The Legal Revolution”). We also have an event space (called the “Dream

Lab”) where we hold community events and gatherings.

What You’ll Do

● Import revenue entries from Square point of sale software for restaurant and food truck

activities, reconciling all information with available documentation and ensuring accuracy.

Maintain all supporting documentation for revenue entries.

● Provide timely and accurate hands-on accounting including month-end close, accounts payable,

accounts receivable, and fixed assets processing using QuickBooks Online software.

● Create and enter journal entries for payroll allocation for the organization.

● Create and enter all monthly journal entries needed for proper recognition of financial

information.

● Record daily cash transactions from online payments, credit card transactions (Ramp),

QuickBooks Online payments and Point of Sale (Square). Deposit any manual checks into

proper bank account via remote desktop software.

● Complete monthly bank account reconciliations.

● Complete monthly balance sheet account analysis to tie to month end balances.

● Provide support during the Annual Audit as needed by Fractional CFO.

● Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and business contracts.

Qualifications:

● Minimum 2 - 3 years’ experience in finance and accounting positions, including experience in

nonprofit financial accounting and management.

● Individuals with criminal records are encouraged to apply.

● Experience with nonprofit and/or social justice spaces preferred.

● Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards and best practices, including

preparation of financial statements, tax returns, compliance, and other reporting.

● Experience with multi-entity structure organizations is highly desired.

● Proficient use of accounting software (QuickBooks Online strongly desired) and Microsoft office

products. Strong Excel skills required.

● Experience with financial recording keeping for charitable gifts and donations, including

restricted gifts and multi-entity organizations.

● High ethical standards with the ability to maintain confidentiality, ensure data privacy, and

secure sensitive information.

● Ability to meet deadlines, plan, organize, implement, manage, and complete multiple projects

simultaneously and independently.

● High emotional intelligence, high cultural competency, strong personal alignment with the

organization’s racial equity values.

Compensation:

Starting hourly salary range between $25 - $30 per hour with significant growth opportunity as the

organization expands.
