The Opportunity

Laing O'Rourke operates in investment and development services, programme management services, design and engineering consultancy, manufacturing and construction solutions, infrastructure, and buildings management. Our projects span a range of sectors including, building, rail, healthcare, nuclear, data centres, life sciences and defence.

This Accountant role is part of the UK and Group Finance team which is responsible for control and oversight of Company finances, monthly reporting and analysis of business performance, business partnering and supporting the business's strategic objectives.

What will the role look like?

This role is an opportunity for an Accountant to be involved in the key decision making of the UK business and will allow the successful candidate to gain experience across multiple departments, providing analysis and adding value throughout.

The role is diverse and varied and will involve working with the wider finance and business community. A flexible approach and the ability to embrace change within a dynamic and challenging work environment are crucial, as well as juggling multiple projects at once.

Furthermore, this role requires someone who is eager to keep learning, to get involved and own processes, as well as continually improve them and try different things. There are plenty of projects on the horizon that the FP&A team will get involved with and this role will be key in allowing that to happen.

What skills & experience are we looking for?
• Preparation of short term cashflow forecasts which involves variance reporting, communicating, and presenting findings to finance and commercial leaders, and analysis of drivers of cash inflows and outflows.
• Perform scenario analysis and financial modelling as required by the business.
• Financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
• Balance sheet and control account reconciliations.
• Within the finance team support processes and reporting improvements to enhance processes and improve efficiency.
• Supporting the year end and going concern audit.
• Supporting the month end process.
• Supporting ad hoc projects required by senior stakeholders.
• Supporting development of digital transformation projects.
