System One is actively seeking an Accountant for a short-term contract position working a hybrid schedule located in Denver, CO.

The Accountant position will be supporting the gas distribution and energy supply business areas.

Accountant Responsibilities:
• Working within the Business area accounting team and will be responsible for booking journal entries in support of some of the business operations business areas.
• Work with project controls and project managers from an expense perspective.
• Work with finance partners to assist in research and submit accruals.
• Occasional will interface with AP.
• Heavy in month end close activities as there is a high volume of journal entries that this team books.
• Supporting the business areas in booking accrual, reclass type journal entries during the close process, doing some research with our AP system and doing some other work throughout the month that include standard accounting functions such as preparing account reconciliations and doing some of our look back testing from a SOX perspective from one of our controls.
• This role is cyclical; each month doing the same type of work.
• Month end is considered 3 days before end of the month and 4 days into new month. After that, the accountant will do account reconciliations, lookback testing, booking journal entries, etc. A cycle might look like this - Team is very busy from 3 days before the end of the month until about three to four days after the end of the month:
That's their very high volume of busy month and close time. After that, the amount of work on slows down a little bit, however they have account reconciliations that they'll work on. After that they do some of our look back control testing which will three days and then they will move into booking reclass journal entries and then kind of getting into that month they close process again towards the end of the month.

Required Experience:
• Bachelor of Accounting/finance degree or business administration.
• Experience with SAP would be attractive (would not need to be super complex exp).
• Expert skills with MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s)
• Experience with SharePoint.
• 5-7 years of accounting experience
• Experience with an ERP system
• Experience with journal entries and analysis on spreadsheets
• Cross functional team experience.
• Not looking for bookkeeping/clerical AP processing.
• Resource must have experience in a fast-paced environment and must possess strong problem-solving abilities.
Location: Denver, CO (will work a hybrid schedule, this will not be fully remote)
Contract Duration:4-months
Hourly Pay Rate: $50 - $53/h
