ACCOUNTANT II - FINANCE
PART TIME (20HRS/WEEK)
DATE OF POSTING: July 2+, 2024
BARGAINING UNIT: MSEA Support, Range 17
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $22.00 - $28.41

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a staff accounting position supporting the Finance Office. Responsibilities include but are not limited to accounting reconciliations and analysis, journal entries, variance reporting, accounting support of the SMCC Foundation, grant funded analysis and reporting, and general accounting support. To provide technical advice to other accountant and professionals. Supervision may be exercised over an accounting support staff. Work is performed under limited supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate's degree with two (2) years of related accounting or auditing experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, education or related field from an accredited college or university
• Two (2) years demonstrated experience with accounting or auditing
• Related professional work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• Knowledge of automated accounting systems
• Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Knowledge of public financial administration, budgeting and reporting
• Knowledge of state appropriation system and budget and accounting procedures
• Ability to prepare complete and accurate accounting and financial reports and statements
• Advanced knowledge of Excel spreadsheet preparations
• Ability to analyze and draw conclusions for financial data
• Ability to perform detail work involving written or numerical data and to make mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately
• Ability to supervise and coordinate the work of an accounting support staff
