Key Responsibilities

Oversee all accounting operations across multiple entities, including the general ledger, financial reporting, inter-company reconciliations, and cash management.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements and internal reports.
Manage property tax assessments and appeals and implement real estate-specific tax strategies (e.g., capital gains, GST/HST rebates).
Ensure compliance with Canadian tax regulations, including intercompany transactions and cross-entity tax planning.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support real estate acquisitions, financing options, and portfolio optimization.
Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis and cash flow projections.
Coordinate with external accountants to ensure timely and accurate preparation of corporate tax filings.
Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial policies to ensure regulatory compliance.
Monitor and manage real estate development accounting, including construction draws, budget tracking, and cost allocation.
Supervise the in-house bookkeeper responsible for day-to-day transaction processing and data entry.
Collaborate with ownership on financial planning, investment strategy, and special projects.

Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management.
Strong experience in real estate development, construction, or property management accounting.
Skilled in implementing and optimizing accounting systems across multi-entity structures.
Demonstrated leadership with the ability to build trust and exercise discretion in a family business environment.
Proficient in QuickBooks and Excel; experience with other accounting software is a plus.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage inter-company relationships and multiple entities.
Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for commuting around Greater Vancouver
