About the Role
This is a backfill opportunity while the role holder is taking parental leave. It presents an exciting opportunity to join the Australian Museum and to support its impact on science.
The role sits within the Australian Centre for Wildlife Genomics (ACWG), part of the Australian Museum Research Institute (AMRI) division. Along with the facilitation of high-quality genomics-based research in AMRI, the ACWG team deliver a range molecular diagnostic services to external stakeholders as an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited facility. It also oversees the Museum’s Frozen Tissue Collection – a biorepository of tissue and DNA specimens from wildlife from across the globe.
The primary purpose of this role is to participate in the planning, facilitation, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of all aspects of quality improvement and quality assurance for the ACWG to maintain accreditation held by the Centre. This position ensures ongoing compliance with accreditation and certification requirements of the ACWG and supports the delivery of high-quality services to internal and external stakeholders.

Role Description
AM Candidate Pack

You will be paid a competitive annual salary rate $67,204 - $+8,0+6, pro-rated, plus employer's contribution to superannuation (will be 12% from 1 July 2025) and annual leave loading.

About you
As the successful candidate, you will have strong attention to detail, the ability to perform tasks with high accuracy, good organisational skills, and an understanding of quality management processes and systems.

Knowledge & Experience
Demonstrated working knowledge of ISO/IEC Standards, in particular ISO/IEC 17025 (Research and Development facilities) including an ability to identify quality issues whilst clearly outlining business implications in a timely manner.
Experience in asset management, and the coordination of laboratory equipment servicing.
Experience participating in audits and/or assessment activities.
Knowledge of legislation, regulations, and Standards relevant to the Australian Museum (particularly those regarding dangerous goods, quarantine/biosecurity, and wildlife compliance).

Essential requirements
Tertiary level qualifications in Science (Biological Sciences) or other relevant qualification.
