Full job description
We are looking for a full-time Accounts and Administration Support Officer to join our dedicated team at Rimutaka Prison. This will be on a fixed-term contract until 30 June 2026.
About the role | Mo te tunga
Based in the Rimutaka Administration Building situated outside of the main prison building this is a varied role with a wide range of duties where you will be crossed trained into all areas. Supporting our in-house Industries group i.e. the Rimutaka Prison's Catering, Laundry, Printshop, Grounds Maintenance and Distribution teams, you will provide general office accounts and administration support to these internal customers.

Strong reconciliation skills, attention to detail and a customer focused helpful attitude are key requirements for this role. Core duties will include the electronic receipting of purchase orders, data entry, creating accounts receivable invoices and journals and all other general office accounting tasks. You will enjoy working in a busy environment, be able to multi-task, follow and adhere to strict policies and procedures, and have sound judgement in prioritising tasks and activities to meet deadlines.
Success will be dependent upon your;
Excellent work ethic including strong time management and organisational skills
Ability to work well within a team environment.
Sound working knowledge of MS Word/Excel/Outlook and SAP, with excellent written and verbal language skills
Great face-to-face people skills i.e. your ability to interact confidently and professionally with people from a diverse range of cultures is essential
Understanding of our work environment and the safety protocols required
Ability to learn new skills quickly, follow instructions and having the courage to ask relevant questions
Strong attention to detail i.e. being team, solution and compliance focused
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Utu a-tau | Salary
Salary for this role begins at $64,717 with the top of the salary band being $68,434 per annum. Salary will be determined subject to the transferrable skillset and experience you bring.
Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 7.30am - 4pm.
