What does a great “SQL DBA, Advisor I” do?

SQL DBA, Advisor I, interested in working in a dynamic and complex technical environment, will be responsible for the implementation of new technologies and support operations on numerous SQL databases while working closely with internal clients, systems programmers, and application developers to define and resolve information flow and content issues helping to transform business requirements into environment specific databases. In this position, the successful candidate will work on high availability, high volume transaction processing (OLTP), Batch and Reporting/DW environments on various platforms.

The role is required to be performed from Fiserv India offices providing overlap with US working hours, hence working from 2PM to 11PM (IST) shift for all 5 working days in a week.

What You Will Do
• Administer all aspects SQL server installations
• Support and resolve all the issues related to high availability group and replication from test to production environments
• Monitor and optimize the performance of application databases to meet performance and service level agreements, including index analysis and optimization
• Tune and Optimize queries and access plans
• Support application developers and architects in a consulting role
• Work with the DevOps team to develop application store procedures and setup data scenarios in Dev environments to do performance testing of the application
• Participate in allocated DBA tasks, e.g., SQL Service pack upgrades, installations, backup, and recovery, tuning, performance monitoring, day-to-day support
• Analyze the high-volume tables in production and provide strategies of implementing table partitioning of these tables to production
• Troubleshoot and resolve Production incidents and participate in bridge calls in coordination with application support team in meeting the SLAs.
• Support the Application build team in their analysis of performance of application, deployment failures and high availability group in development and test environments.
• Perform database deployments and post deployment monitoring.
• Participate in development of databases and SSIS packages to meet requirements of new initiatives. Provide advice and guidance on database technology for new business systems.
• Manage ongoing initiatives, including server and system upgrades and maintain currency
• Possess a knowledge of security and compliance and be aware of security standards.

What You Will Need To Have
• Strong expertise in MS SQL (2024) along with hands on experience
• Experience with Replication, Performance tuning, Partitioning, High Availability, Disaster Recovery (backup/restore), Import/exports, building up DB from scratch, DB upgrades.
• Experience with server virtualization including Hyper-V and VMWare. Must understand the concepts of server virtualization.
• Experience in the Banking and/or Financial Services Industry
• Excellent skills in performance monitoring, tuning, space and size management.
• Experience on SSIS, SSRS and SSAS.
• Experience with database migrations.
• Broad experience in clustering high availability, fault tolerant systems, SAN
• Experience in defining Database Server Security, User Creation and Right Permission
• General experience of Windows Clustering and deployment process
• Experience with Splunk, ServiceNow, PowerShell, Database and storage Encryption technologies (Data in motion and at rest)
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to share your knowledge, teach what you know, and learn new ways of doing things from your team.

What Would Be Great To Have
• Experience with database utilities and development procedures and familiarity with emerging technologies.
• Good knowledge of complex technologies, tools, methodologies, the enterprise architecture, and industry
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or Business or equivalent degree is desirable
• Minimum 10+ years of experience a DBA on SQL Database Support, design, and development
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in an Advisor Role
