Remuneration: AHP2 ($88,255 - $102,240 per annum) / PO2 ($88,255 - $+7,667 per annum) + 11.5% Superannuation
Role Details
The Department for Child Protection is seeking a Senior Social Worker or Senior Case Manager to join the Mount Barker Office on a full-time term basis.
This role is responsible for:
Conducting complex investigations and assessments in a child-centred manner, focused on the safety of the child and on the support of the parent/family to safely care for their child.
Providing written and verbal reports which are concise, informative and based on analysis of evidence gathered and includes being a witness in court proceedings.
Responding to notifications of child abuse and the outcomes of investigations, review and reassess as needed, and remain open to a shift in perception when responding to new evidence.
Assisting families by working in partnership with them to support the safe return of their children to their care and to work directly with children in care to assure their development, stability and security at all times.
About You
We are looking for a motivated, organised individual who has the ability to understand factors that contribute to child abuse within the context of child development, parenting, family and environmental factors and confidently apply this understanding to your work and the decisions you make.
You need to be a good communicator and have the ability to develop strong networks with key professionals and families.
You will also have the ability to apply a culturally sensitive child protection practice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and communities from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Special Conditions:
Essential:
AHP: A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
PO: Appropriate degree qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or related field.
Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
