Job Description

Position Overview:

An Android Auto Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Android-

based applications for integration with automotive infotainment systems. This role involves

working closely with cross-functional teams to create user-friendly and intuitive applications

that enhance the in-car experience. The developer will collaborate with designers, software

engineers, and quality assurance teams to ensure the seamless integration of Android Auto

applications with vehicle systems.

Key Responsibilities:
• Application Development:
• Design and develop Android Auto applications that comply with Android Auto guidelines and
• standards.
• Collaborate with designers to create visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces.
• Implement application functionalities such as media playback, navigation, messaging, voice
• recognition, and vehicle controls.
• Integrate with vehicle APIs and hardware interfaces to enable seamless communication and
• interaction with the vehicle.
• Android Platform Expertise:
• Stay updated with the latest Android Auto platform updates, SDKs, and APIs.
• Optimize application performance, responsiveness, and compatibility across various Android
• Auto-enabled devices.
• Ensure adherence to Android design principles and user experience guidelines.
• Leverage Android development tools, frameworks, and libraries to enhance application functionality

Documentation and Maintenance:
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, development
• guidelines, and API references.
• Ensure proper version control and documentation of source code and application builds.
• Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging trends in Android app development.
• Support application maintenance and troubleshooting efforts throughout the product lifecycle.
• Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Solid experience in Android app development, with a focus on Android Auto applications.
• Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin programming languages
• Strong knowledge of Android SDK, Android Studio, and development tools.
• Familiarity with Android Auto platform guidelines and best practices.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, and web services integration.
• Proficient in Java, Android SDK, JNI, C++, JSON, Sqlite, RESTful APIs.
• Experience with Android HAL and HIDL - Audio, Graphics, Camera, Sensors, Automotive etc.
• Experience with Android Home Screen Launcher and SystemUI
• Software development experience on embedded, mobile, or consumer electronic platforms
• Experience with AOSP internals and Android Modules
• Hands on debugging tools like GAL, ATS
• Understanding of software development processes and agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
