Job Description

Reporting to the Garage Manager, the apprentice will work in the garage attending to various jobs for outside clients as well as for our various fleets including taxis, limos, vans, transit buses and occasionally 1-ton and diesel equipment from the towing division.

Responsibilities:

Provide vehicle troubleshooting and diagnostic repairs
Installation of new and added-on equipment
Conduct first, second, and third-line repairs, modifications on vehicles
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs to municipal equipment to ensure that the equipment is available, reliable, and safe to operate
Monitor parts usage and report on any materials issues
Assist in ordering replacement equipment, parts, and supplies
Accurate completion of work orders and timecards
Test repaired equipment for proper performance
Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques
Assist in preparing preventative and predictive maintenance schedules
Other mechanical repairs as required
Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to occupational health and safety regulations
Perform in a team environment with minimal supervision
Monitor and act on general maintenance, cleaning of shop, and equipment and keeping a safe and orderly shop area
Additional tasks as required
Competencies:

Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve in new scenarios
Ability to operate both automatic and manual shift vehicles
High attention to detail and standard of quality
A team player who is focused on providing exceptional service but also keeps the best interests of the company front and center

Education and Qualifications:

3rd or 4th Year Apprentice Automotive Technician - you must have completed all schooling and hours for each year.
Valid Alberta driver’s license required
Computer experience required
Experience with 1-Ton and Diesel
Working Conditions:

Shop and yard environments with moderate noise, odors, and dust
Lifting to 50lbs
Frequent standing, walking, use of hands to manipulate, handle or feel; reaching with hands or arms
Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Must have the mobility to easily access and move in and out vehicles and equipment
