The Role
You will work on all ministerial and parliamentary products on Defence in relation to the Royal Commission and provides advice and input to facilitate clear and consistent messaging on matters raised through Royal Commission.
Focusing on the release of, the Government response to, and implementation of government agreed recommendations of the Royal Commissions Final Report, within the Communications and Ministerial Team as APS6 Communication and Ministerial Officer will be accountable to deliver and enable strategic communication efforts in order to respond to media enquiries, draft strategic communication products and provide advice and support to communication efforts across Defence.
An APS 6 Communications and Ministerial Officer will be responsible for actively managing key stakeholder relationships and will be required to identify relevant stakeholders’ expectations and concerns to develop and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes. Duty Statement
Within Royal Commission Reform Taskforce Media and Communication Officer will be responsible for following deliverables:
Within the Communication and Ministerial function an Communications and Ministerial Officer is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex communication.
Media and issue management work within an integrated workforce.
They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
An APS6 Communications and Ministerial Officer will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work.
They will provide detailed communication, media and issues management technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
An APS6 Communications and Ministerial Officer may be a team coach or lead a team and be accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows.
An APS6 Communications and Ministerial Officer will have a considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex, difficult or sensitive issues.

Communications & Ministerial supports Defence’s wider community in two key ways. The Communication line of effort enables extensive strategic communication efforts in order to respond to media enquiries, draft strategic communication products and provide advice and support to communication efforts across Defence.
The Ministerial line of effort leads on all ministerial and parliamentary products on Defence in relation to the Royal Commission and provides advice and input to facilitate clear and consistent messaging on matters raised through Royal Commission.

Experience in Communications and Ministerial
Proficient in PPDMS - Parliamentary Document Management System
