The Role
The GWEO Capability Analysis team, within the Guided Weapons and Explosives Ordnance (GWEO) Group, is looking for a Data Analytics Specialist, who is capable and able to hit the ground running and contribute towards supporting GWEO Group’s priorities. This team provides GWEO capability analysis and insight into GWEO Group and provides input into broader Defence. The team ensures that capability decisions are informed and contribute to an integrated force.
Within this team’s roles is the GWEO ADF Weapons Roadmap, a singular plan for current and future ADF guided weapons and explosives ordnance capabilities - a key requirement to the success of GWEO meeting its outcomes and key performance indicators.
The GWEO ADF Weapons Roadmap will include:
A centralised data repository – consolidating GWEO data from various sources across the Defence Enterprise; and
A decision support tool – enabling users to extract visualisations and inform insights from consolidated GWEO data.
As the data analytics specialist in the GWEO Capability Analysis team, you will be responsible for leading the data analytics and visualisation capabilities within the team. These capabilities will help provide data-driven insights into the current and future state of ADF guided weapons and explosives ordnance for GWEO group seniors.
The role of the Data Analytics Specialist will require someone who is able to fulfil the following key roles & responsibilities:
Collate, condition and analyse data from a variety of sources to support the ADF Weapons Roadmap;
Create and manage the ADF Roadmap Database;
Create data visualisations for analysis and communication purposes, drawing out insights to support the GWEO Capability Analysis team, the GWEO Senior Leadership Group and wider Defence committees;
Have in-depth knowledge and experience with data analysis software including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, PowerBi or similar platforms;
Lead and develop other GWEO Capability Analysis team members on data analysis and visualisation techniques;
Build and sustain effective collaborative relationships with team members and key stakeholders within GWEO Group and the broader Defence Department;
Develop and maintain an understanding of stakeholder requirements and expectations.

Demonstrated experience in data collation, conditioning and analysis techniques, with the ability to innovate and challenge traditional ways of conducting business;
Demonstrated experience in creating data visualisations for analysis and communication;
Demonstrated experience with data analysis software, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Power BI;
Experience working in a collaborative team and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders with diverse background and seniority;
