Shearer Design is seeking an intermediate/ senior interior design commercial architectural technologist. You must be a confident and enthusiastic individual with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a wide range of commercial interiors projects and drafting.
Job Duties and Key Responsibilities:
· Uses critical thought to influence design excellence with internal and external parties.
· Assist in the conceptual development of interior design projects from both a technical and aesthetic angle, while meeting client’s programming and budget requirements.
· Examine and evaluate building codes and by-laws, space requirements and other technical documents and reports, and apply them to the design of projects.
· Produce manual and computer assisted design (CAD) drawings, and specifications, cost estimates and listings of quantities of materials from conceptual drawings and instructions.
· Utilize BIM technologies, and their components, to develop architectural and display models, and 3-D Virtual models of architectural designs.
· Prepare working drawings and bidding documents, as well as permit applications.
· Leverages a solid understanding of building principles and industry design standards to communicate concepts and sketch ideas to others in an effective manner to maintain cost parameters on projects.
· Work closely and in conjunction with architectural and interior designers from design conceptualization to preparation of working drawings for tender and construction.
· May supervise and inspect work done by others as part of peer review, and to maintain internal standards for project documentation.
Skills Requirements:
Applicants must possess an Architectural Technology diploma from a recognized Architectural Technology (or equivalent) program; Minimum of 3 years of experience in an intermediate position in drafting of commercial interiors; Experience with Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, word, excel, PowerPoint and Teams; Proficient in constructing architectural and display models, and 3-D Virtual models of architectural design using BIM technologies; Familiarity with AutoCAD, Chaos Enscape, and Sketch-up considered an asset; Organized and able to work under time constraints; Strong written and oral skills in English are required; Experience and ability to carry a client’s project through to completion.
