At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens (WMK), we’re proud to support over 100 kindergartens across a variety of regions—from Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Manawatū, Kāpiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also offer a unique home-based service, Etu Ao, in Porirua and Levin, with a special focus on Pasific families.

We believe that high quality early childhood education is a powerful force—for children, their whānau, their communities, and for the future of Aotearoa New Zealand. Our vision is to be a national leader in early childhood education, setting the standard and advocating for excellence and access across the country.

At the heart of everything we do are our values:
· Nurturing the mana of the child – Honouring each child’s unique identity and potential
· Kounga – Quality – Striving for excellence in every aspect of our services
· Mahi Tahi – Partnership – Working together with whānau and communities
· Pono – Integrity – Acting with honesty, respect, and transparency

Today, more than 6,000 children are part of the Whānau Manaaki kindergarten family, with an additional 150 children enrolled in our Etu Ao home-based programme. Together, we’re building strong foundations for lifelong learning and wellbeing.

Community Description
Arohanui Kindergarten is the early childhood centre attached to the teen parent unit situated at Waiopehu College, Levin, which caters for young parents in the Horowhenua, Shannon, Foxton and Otaki areas. The whole service is called He Whare Manaaki Tangata, a purpose-built structure, that opened at the beginning of Term 1 2014.

Our team has sound understanding of best practice, particularly working with children under the age of two years and deliver a whānau-based approach (where older and younger tamariki learn alongside each other). We also have a commitment to working alongside young parents and their whānau and work collaboratively with the teachers attached to He Whare Manaaki Tangata and Waiopehu College.

We are licensed for 31 children, with 15 being under 2, who attend for 6.5 hours each day. You will join our team of 5 other teachers.

We are looking for an enthusiastic ECE kaiako who:
Can demonstrate skill and enjoyment in working with children aged 0- 5 in a whānau-based educational setting
Has experience and ability in establishing authentic, warm relationships with a diverse range of whānau, including young parents and community.
Works in partnership within a secondary school environment including engaging with kaiako, leaders and other professionals to promote a holistic educational setting
Participates in collaborative professional relationships that demonstrate evaluative practice and adaptively apply this learning in practice
Enjoys teaching in a dynamic setting that values initiative.

If you would like to visit the Kindergarten to see if the environment would be a good fit for you, please contact Head Teacher, Kirstie, on 06 368742+ .

To apply for this role, you must be eligible to work in Aotearoa New Zealand. You can apply for this role through our website.
