The Office for Early Childhood Development has been formed with a clear mandate. To create a fairer and better future for all children in South Australia by implementing the accepted recommendations of the Royal Commission into Early Childhood Education and Care.
As the steward of the early childhood development system, the Office will act on government's behalf, and work in collaboration with the sector, to organise and connect the system to reduce developmental vulnerability.
This includes strategy for the provision of quality preschool for all three and four-year-olds, supporting for families in the first 1000 days of a child’s life and implementing a workforce strategy.
About the Role:
The Policy and Project Officer will support the workforce and quality teams to develop and implement initiatives to build the supply and quality of the early childhood workforce.
The position will undertake research, provide advice, prepare papers and briefings, engage with stakeholders, support program delivery and monitor outcomes.
About You:
Drawing on a strong foundation of project management principles, you bring the ability to effectively support with the planning, implementation and reporting of complex projects within deadlines. Your background in policy analysis and experience in conducting research and evaluation enable you to develop well-informed options and identify key trends through data analysis. With excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, you can articulately consult and influence at various levels.
Additionally, your high-level written and verbal communication skills allow you to coordinate briefings, reports, and project-related documents. Your adaptability, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities position you to excel in this role.
This role could be of interest if you have recently completed a Grad program and seeking your next Project Officer career steps to apply your learned experience and knowledge within the Early Education and Care sector (but not essential).
Capabilities and experience you will bring:
Experience in undertaking research and analysis, synthesizing research and policy ideas, and producing written materials of a high standard that identify key findings of relevance.
Manage complex and competing priorities and develop effective resolutions both individually and through working with others.
Experience in coordinating or contributing to projects, project management and project related activities, including those related to administration, human resources, financial services, data collection and analysis, evaluation and reporting.
An appropriate tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or relevant vocational experience and knowledge (desirable).
Special Conditions:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration:
ASO4 $76,58+ - $80,256 per annum (1.0 FTE), plus superannuation
