About the role:

The Communications Officer is responsible for coordinating the Department’s communications priorities by developing customer-centric communications, campaigns and services for departmental channels and stakeholders, while supporting the strategic direction of the agency.

The Communications Officer works within a team that provides communications and marketing services for the department. The position develops and delivers strategic communications plans, creative briefs, content and materials for a range of external channels, working collaboratively with subject matter experts, and specialist channel leads.

Key Competencies:

To apply and succeed in the role, you will have:

Broad and expert knowledge of marketing and communications theory and methodology across all media, including alignment of public relations outcomes and marketing strategies.
Proven skills in the development and delivery of effective strategic communications plans, content and materials to change behaviour and/or support achievement of organisational objectives.
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively both verbally and in writing with people at all levels including proven ability to consult, liaise and influence, and negotiate and manage conflict with tact and diplomacy.
Experience developing, interpreting and implementing marketing, communication and engagement plans that support the business objectives and priorities of the agency.
Ability to undertake specialist research and analysis, including collating, interpreting and
summarising complex data and information into succinct reports and correspondence under limited
direction and high work volumes.
Remuneration:

Competitive salary ($85,7+0 min - $+5,413 max pa) plus superannuation

Qualifications:

Essential: Nil
Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in marketing, business, public relations / communications or similar
Special Conditions:

The role will be offered full-time (1.0 FTE), initial 24-month term contract.
Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC) required prior to employment.
