Description
NCH Europe are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our busy finance team. If you have accounting or financial experience and are looking to grow within an accounting role, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities consist of (but are not limited to) preparing monthly accounts and balance sheet reconciliations covering 23 countries, P&L and Balance Sheet accuracy, month-end timetable adherence
timely completion of external audit PBC requests and reduction of manual journals, as well as other European accounting duties as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting
• Revenue recognition and bad debt provisioning
• Intercompany recharging and reconciliation
• GAAP-compliant treatment of FX
• Accurate and timely accounting of accruals and pre-payments
• Review of P&L and Balance Sheet at month-end prior to final submission
• Respond to management queries and take appropriate actions for month-end close
• Preparation of timely Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Provide accurate and timely information for external audits and statutory filings
• Apply NCH Group accounting policy and ensure compliance with US GAAP
• Ad-hoc analyses
Month-end activities
• Continuous accounting during month to avoid bottlenecks during month-end close
• Participate actively in reducing month-end closing cycle from 7 to 5 days
Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
Person Specification
• Good accounting technician capable of developing deep subject matter expertise
• Appetite for learning and applying US GAAP
• Confident communicator and collaborates internally and cross-functionally to resolve issues and establish efficient, standardised processes
• Constantly seeking to improve standards of work - any previous experience of process change beneficial
• Self-motivated, proactive and strong analytical skills
• Good team player with strong interpersonal skills coupled with strong coaching skills,
• Assertive but diplomatic
• Operates effectively in a deadline-oriented environment and manage multiple activities
• Discreet and trust-worthy, working with confidential data
Qualifications
1-3 years Financial Accounting Experience
Preferably experience in accounting for revenue recognition, FX and intercompany
Proficient in preparing and maintaining accurate, timely accruals and pre-payments
Good systems skills in Excel and Oracle ERP or similar/SAP beneficial
US GAAP / IFRS knowledge beneficial but not essential for this role
Minimum AAT-qualified essential, with a commitment to studying for ACCA / CIMA qualifications
