Job Title: Assistant Controller

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Assistant Controller will play a key role in overseeing the company’s full-cycle accounting and financial reporting functions. This position will work closely with the finance team to manage month-end close processes and prepare accurate quarterly and annual financial statements. The Assistant Controller is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and maintaining compliance with both internal controls and external regulatory requirements. Additionally, this role will provide oversight of internal control processes, ensuring they are operating effectively and continuously improving. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Systems and Process Improvement

Contribute to the implementation of new systems and support special projects as needed.
Propose and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of financial reporting, payroll processing, tax filings, and other business operations.
Financial Reporting

Draft annual and quarterly financial statements and Management’s Discussion & Analysis (MD&A), including supporting workbooks and schedules, in accordance with IFRS and applicable standards.
Proactively research and resolve potential accounting issues in compliance with IFRS.
Month-End and Close Processes

Oversee month-end and quarterly close activities, including the review and approval of working papers to ensure accuracy and appropriate documentation.
Review and approve journal entries and transactions, ensuring accuracy, proper account coding, and appropriate approvals.
Internal Controls and Compliance

Ensure adherence to the company’s internal control processes and promote opportunities for continuous improvement.
Assist in the preparation and submission of timely tax filings and other required government filings.
Leadership and Team Development

Provide leadership, guidance, and development opportunities for team members.
Support training initiatives to enhance team performance and knowledge.
Other Responsibilities

Perform additional duties and projects as required by the company.

The Ideal Candidate

Education / Qualifications:

Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
Experience / Skills

3-5 years experience in an accounting/financial reporting role for public companies or public practice reporting under IFRS, including supervision of staff.
Experience with Pronto Xi is a strong asset.
Experience with implementation and maintenance of SOX controls is an asset.
Experience with development and production phase mining companies is an asset.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to develop team relationships and providing leadership to junior team members.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and receptiveness to feedback.
Excellent organizational abilities and proven multitasking skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize while under pressure and tight deadlines.
High standards of business and personal ethical conduct.
Excellent eye for detail.

Work Location & Conditions

This is an office-based job, in Skeena’s Corporate office located in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Monday to Friday schedule. Additionally, the job is in a fast-paced working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities. Some flexibility in work location may be considered.


Compensation

The expected range for this position is CAD $135,000-$150,000 in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
