Assistant Corporate Controller
We are looking for a self-motivated accounting and finance professional to take charge of the financial reporting (senior management, banks, consultants) of our operating companies. You understand and appreciate how large-scale integrated ERP computer systems work to bring together financial results. You help ensure that the companies are following the necessary government reporting obligations. You are going to be integral in ensuring that internal controls are working as well as implementing processes as required. You are not afraid of tackling unfamiliar challenges and enjoy working with different types of people to come to solutions. You are looking to leave your mark on a growing organization and love thinking of creative, efficient ways to use technology.
Description of Duties:
As a member of our close-knit accounting team, your duties will include:
Oversee the monthly, quarterly and annual financials including performance of each of the four main divisions of the company
Assist with and involved in review of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
Examine and analyze financial records, documents, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with established procedures, and internal controls
Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with established best practices
Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting
Involved in tax compliance including GST and PST returns
Troubleshoot company’s ERP system to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
Mentor and develop employees and providing leadership, training, and development to office staff
Address ad hoc requests for information/ analysis from management
Skills & Requirements:
Professional accounting designation required – CPA
5+ years of financial accounting, reporting and management experience
Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
Strong knowledge of accounting principles
Very good grasp of data analysis
Working knowledge of MS Office and accounting software
Strong computer skills (including advanced excel)
Working knowledge of tax an asset
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
