Reporting to: Director of Design

Brand/Product Focus: Women’s Outerwear (Dockers, Levi's, & Tommy Hilfiger

Location (On-Site): New York City, Midtown Manhattan – Fashion District

Success Profile:

G-III is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Assistant Designer to join our Design Team. In this role, you will support our design team in all stages of design from concept to final product. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with passion for design, strong understanding of design principles, and excellent organizational and communication skills.

Key Accountabilities:

• Support seasonal development calendar in partnership with Design Director and team

• Manage creation and updates of line sheet

• Source seasonal inspiration for all design aspects through both market and online resources

• Assist with sketching and completing tech packs

• Participate in all aspects of the design process - sketching, technical packages, create and maintain line sheets

• Manage development and execution of trim packages.

• Assist with research and development of innovative trims each season

• Assist with research and development of new fabrics

• Organize and update seasonal trim charts and color allocation charts

• Prepare show samples for line edits (steam, remove tags, etc.)

• Maintain an active role in the weekly Design Flow Meeting. Take notes and follow up on all outstanding issues

• Communicate with overseas factories

• Submit and approve artwork/strike-offs, wash panels, lab dips, etc.

• Manage and adhere to the Time and Action Calendar

• Maintain and organize the supply closet and re-order office supplies as needed

• Organize and maintain fabric bins, supplies, development binders

• Maintain and organize past season archive closets, packing items for sample sales as needed

• Prepare expense reports for the team after travel, market research, etc.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of one (1) year of professional design work

• College degree, or equivalent professional work experience, required

Skills and Behaviors:

• General understanding of apparel styles, components and construction

• Experience with apparel timelines, calendars, and development process

• Experience in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop, and Microsoft Excel,

• Working knowledge of PLM

• Strong communication skills, both written and oral

• Motivated to work in a high energy environment at the speed of fashion with ever-changing priorities

The pay range for this position is: $24.04 per hour/$50,000 per year (Annualized salary is based on a 40 hour work week) - $26.44 per hour/$55,000 per year (Annualized salary is based on a 40 hour work week).
