Job Summary:
The Assistant General Manager - IT Infrastructure is a mission-critical, strategic leadership role responsible for shaping the strategic direction, driving growth, and ensuring sustained high performance in IT infrastructure and operations. The ideal candidate will oversee IT infrastructure management, ensure compliance, deliver innovative technology solutions, and foster collaboration across teams while ensuring operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
IT Project Management
Lead and manage a portfolio of IT infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and budgets.
Define project scope, goals, budgets, schedules, resourcing, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
Develop and maintain detailed project work plans throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide regular updates and reports on project status, risks, and progress to leadership teams.
Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring successful delivery of IT projects.
IT Process Compliance and Governance
Ensure adherence to ITIL and ITSM processes and best practices, driving standardization and efficiency.
Monitor compliance with security protocols, change management, incident response, and problem management procedures.
Conduct regular ISMS (Information Security Management System) audits, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain and improve IT policies and procedures, aligning with organizational and industry standards.
IT Infrastructure Operations
Manage data centers, ensuring 24/7 availability, high performance, and robust disaster recovery capabilities.
Lead migration projects such as Exchange on-premises to M365, SharePoint, and other M365 applications.
Demonstrate expertise in Windows OS, Mac, Linux (working knowledge), and virtualization platforms like VMware, Nutanix, and Hyper-V.
Administer and maintain critical infrastructure components, including Server 2022, DNS, DHCP, AD services, TCP/IP protocols, and backup provisioning.
Oversee network configuration and troubleshooting for wired and wireless communication equipment.
Implement and manage monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, Nagios, OP Manager) to ensure operational efficiency.
Develop and execute robust backup and recovery strategies using tools like Veritas and tape backups.
Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to optimize IT infrastructure scalability and performance.
End-User Training and Support
Develop and deliver end-user training programs to enhance IT competency across the organization.
Provide guidance and support for hardware and software issues across desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices.
Establish knowledge-sharing platforms and resources to empower users with self-service solutions.
Vendor and IT Purchases Coordination
Collaborate with procurement teams for IT purchases, ensuring cost-effective solutions and compliance with organizational standards.
Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and monitor service-level agreements (SLAs).
Evaluate and recommend hardware, software, and service options based on organizational needs and budgets.
Track IT inventory and manage asset lifecycles to optimize investments.
Leadership and Team Management
Mentor and manage IT teams to foster a high-performance, collaborative environment.
Lead cross-functional projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and IT strategy.
Drive employee development through training programs, certifications, and skill-building initiatives.
Act as an IT architect, identifying and implementing efficient solutions to execute IT strategies across key areas.
Strategic Planning and Innovation
Align IT infrastructure strategies with overall business objectives, contributing to organizational growth and agility.
Identify emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending innovative solutions to address business challenges.
Develop and implement a long-term IT roadmap to support scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
Collaborate with business leaders to understand requirements and deliver IT solutions that drive business success.
Risk Management, Security, and Compliance
Conduct regular risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate vulnerabilities.
Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure minimal disruption during emergencies.
Monitor cybersecurity threats and implement advanced security protocols to safeguard IT assets and data.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to IT operations, data privacy, and security.
Lead ISMS audits and ensure continuous adherence to ISO 27001 or similar standards.
Qualifications and Experience
Master’s in Computer Applications (MCA), Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), or Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Computer Science or related fields.
Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in IT infrastructure management with a proven track record in complex environments.
Extensive experience in IT infrastructure within a manufacturing or distribution environment, with a deep understanding of industry-specific challenges.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in mentoring and fostering high-performance IT teams.
Proven expertise in ITIL/ITSM process management and delivering IT services at scale.
Familiarity with ISMS and conducting audits for compliance with industry standards like ISO 27001.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented, solutions-driven approach.
Proven expertise in implementing innovative IT solutions, optimizing infrastructure, and ensuring system availability, security, and performance.
Skills and Competencies
Expertise in IT project management, ITIL/ITSM frameworks, and ISMS compliance.
Proficiency in managing data centers, IT infrastructure, and disaster recovery strategies.
Strong knowledge of virtualization platforms, operating systems, and monitoring tools.
