Job description
Role Summary

WSP is seeking an Assistant GIS Consultant to join our large and growing technical support team in India to work with our UK wide Environment Consents team. They will work flexibly within the well-established Environment team in Noida/Bengaluru and develop new relationships and processes working with the UK team. This will involve support to UK and international projects, providing expertise in GIS technologies and leading for projects the required data preparation, data management, analysis and data presentation to ensure technical GIS delivery. There will also be opportunities to work with WSP’s Digital Solutions team to develop innovative products and solutions as part of WSP’s digital transformation.

Reporting to the Senior GIS Consultant, the post-holder will support the GIS element of work on the team’s projects and will also be responsible for working with WSPs Project Manager/ EIA Coordinators, and our clients to ensure technical delivery on those projects. They will be responsible for providing guidance and solutions to satisfy project requirements as well as ensuring adherence to existing processes.

Responsibilities
• Support and lead on the GIS element of our projects in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Manage the production of high-quality plan outputs.
• Manage data capture tasks ensuring quality of the data.
• Carry out geoprocessing/analysis tasks
• Data management to ensure efficient storage and usage of quality assured data captured both in-house and via 3rd parties.
• Design local and enterprise geodatabases.
• Manage webGIS (AGOL/ArcGIS Enterprise/apps) for allocated projects.
• Provide consultancy to internal and external clients to understand their needs and provide solutions.
• Ensure quality assurance on project members deliverables.
• Identify areas to add efficiencies and offer innovative solutions.
• Provide guidance on best practice and solutions to achieve deliverables.
• Attend internal & external client meetings.
• Coordinate the GIS work of others within project teams to ensure delivery to programme.
• Liaise with the Senior GIS Consultant to ensure your allocated projects are adequately resourced.
• Undertake own continuous professional development.

Key Competencies / Skills

Mandatory skills
• Strong GIS knowledge and work experience between 2 – 6 years.
• Experience of ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online and ESRI apps.
• Great attention to detail.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Master’s or equivalent degree in GIS
• Experience applying GIS to environmental projects.
• Customer focused approach to quality and service.
• Self-motivated and ability to innovate.

Desirable Skills
• Capability to use GIS applications, strong excel skills (visual basic applications also desirable);
• Knowledge of UK environmental designations and datasets;
• Experience with ArcGIS StoryMaps, Hubs or Experience Builder;
• Database management;
• Spatial Analysis including Statistical Analysis;
• Microsoft Applications

Qualifications
• A post-graduate degree in relevant discipline
