Duties and Responsibilities
• Serve as the HOME Project medical director:
• Direct the recruitment and vetting of volunteer students and physicians;
• Provide orientation and ongoing support to medical students, residents, and physicians with clinical duties;
• Perform regular review of electronic medical records and external electronic databases;
• Coordinate with JABSOM departments to ensure compliance with institutional policies;
• Assist with ordering and inventory control for medications, vaccines, and medical supplies;
• Develop, update, and monitor policies regarding clinic functions;
• Work with managers, program coordinator, and logistics coordinator to improve clinic functions;
• Assist with scheduling and teaching all curricula related to HOME Project (i.e. community health, leadership seminars, underserved care elective);
• Organize and lead longitudinal underserved care elective;
• Interface and collaborate with community organizations that work with HOME Project;
• Help with the planning and implementation of special events (i.e. supply drives, shelter events, fundraising);
• Precept at least 3 HOME Project clinics each week and provide coverage for additional clinics as needed, including evening and weekend hours;
• Serve as on-call personnel during clinic hours;
• Contributes to the mission of the Office of Medical Education in the areas of faculty development, community service, and community outreach;
• Contributes to the preparation for LCME accreditation;
• Attend and participate in functions required of all OME faculty, such as Medical Education Grand Rounds, OME Study Hall, Faculty Meetings, and Convocation;
• Serve as the resource person in their area of specialization and give lectures or conferences/colloquia upon request;
• Evidence of effective teaching is required. This includes evidence of facilitating student-centered learning, demonstration of a positive attitude to student growth, and preparedness and skill as preceptor of clinical skills, community medicine, or elective preceptor;
• Serve on JABSOM and/or University committees;
• Conduct scholarly work in medical education which may include research or curriculum descriptions and the scholarly work should be published and/or presented at peer-reviewed forums; and
• Other duties as assigned (includes but not limited to serving as an MD course director, participating in pipeline and community engagement activities, directing office initiatives, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications
• M.D./D.O. degree from a medical school of recognized standing;
• Board certification (within 7 years) or qualified to become certified;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
• Excellent organizational skills;
• Evidence of effective teaching;
• Experience using teaching methods such as problem-based learning, team-based learning, project-based learning, or another method that emphasizes active, self-directed learning;
• Demonstrated potential for research/scholarship;
• Familiarity and experience working with the homeless and/or other underserved populations.

Desirable Qualifications
• Three years (3) of experience in medical student education in the clinical and/or classroom setting (may include resident teaching experience);
• Teaching evaluations that attest to creative and innovative teaching methods that are well-received by students;
• Experience teaching in and/or coordinating a medical school clinical clerkship;
• Demonstrated ability to work and teach collaboratively with other faculty within and across disciplines;
• Comfortable working in a multi-cultural setting;
• Familiarity and experience teaching in a problem-based learning curriculum; and
• Participate in scholarly work related to HOME Project clinics and educational initiatives.
