Wholesale Portfolio Management (WPM) is a part of Global Banking & Markets (GBM) and is responsible for the active portfolio management for both GBM & CMB globally. Portfolio Management Analytics (PM Analytics) within WPM is responsible for the Portfolio Analysis to deliver actionable insights on the global Wholesale Portfolio. Portfolio Analysis involves analysing the existing portfolio data, trends, early warning tools, etc. in order to provide actionable portfolio risk/profitability insights to the senior management. PM Analytics is also responsible for owning/enhancing and maintenance of the methodology and pricing application used at origination. The Pricing application aids decision-making, resulting in more informed conclusions being drawn regarding the risk, return, profitability and viability of proposed transactions. In terms of active portfolio management, portfolio monitoring involves analysing booked portfolio data and devising strategies to manage the loan book and service loans and consider preventive strategies using CDS and CLO modelling. What you’ll do: • The incumbent will be required to work extensively in an integrated team environment to work on portfolio MI and reporting, exploratory data analysis, data anomaly identification and remediation • Support deep dive analysis on the credit and lending portfolio of HSBC like identification of low return clients and analysis of concentration risks, Economic Capital, Credit Risk and RWA consumptions • Proficiency in working with huge volumes of data and data visualization techniques • Ability to build data visualization dashboards using Tableau or any other equivalent software • Develop and build an understanding of the Basel norms around the key metrics for credit such as Expected Loss, Risk Weighted Assets (RWAs), Exposure at Default, Probability of Default, Credit Risk Rating and Loss Given Default • Analyze the credit risk composition and the drivers of credit risk & profitability metrics of the global wholesale credit & lending portfolio • Help associates in developing an in-depth expertise in the assigned sector, industry, region, country and client relationships within the portfolio • Work independently; lead execution on straightforward situations; effectively deploy internal and external resources • Manage a team of 2-3 individuals, drive their individual objectives for achieving teams’ overall goal • Share information, knowledge and ideas with the team. • Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved Requirements What you will need to succeed in the role: • Must have 6-12 years of relevant work experience • MBA in Finance from a reputed institute • Understanding of Basel norms/Risk Weighted Assets is highly desirable • Good understanding of credit risk concepts and risk & return profitability measures • Good understanding of corporate finance, banking and associated Bank book products & trading-book products • Competency in Microsoft office applications, especially MS Excel, MS-Access and Power-point presentations • Knowledge of working with Alteryx/SAS/ SQL/Python, R or any other programming language is desirable • Knowledge of working with Tableau, QlikView or QlikSense or any other data visualization software is desirable • Graduate level qualification in any of these disciplines (B.E/B.Tech/BBA/BBM/B.com/B.Sc) • Excellent communications – written and verbal and interpersonal / team skills • Experience and ability to operate in a global setting / interact with Business Partners and Senior Management • Ability to manage direct reports, conduct annual appraisals for team members and ability to motivate team to achieve beyond their normal annual targets You’ll achieve more at HSBC HSBC is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a culture where all employees are valued, respected and opinions count.
