About the role:

MUFG is the leading international bank in the Australasian market. Due to recent success and continued growth in our business, applications for a Sydney based Associate/Analyst in the Japanese Corporate FX Sales team are being sought. Preferred candidates will be expected to have 2 to 5 years relevant experience.

The Sydney based Analyst/Associate role will assist with deal administration and reporting, new customer set-up, providing customer FX solutions, FX flow dealing and assisting the broader FX team with client coverage and administration. The focus of the role will be across MUFG’s Japanese Corporate facing business unit.

What you’ll be doing:

Demonstrating a superior understanding of the requirements of MUFG’s Oceania Japanese customer FX client base across differing levels of customer sophistication

Identifying opportunities and leading client dialogue that leverage MUFG’s capabilities across all Foreign Exchange products

Collaborating & building partnerships by promoting Oceania Foreign Exchange capabilities to internal stakeholders

Acting as the focal point for internal stakeholders around customer documentation and associated dealing administration

Assist with the preparation of customer presentations and compliance reporting

Customer set-up, maintenance and customer database management

Monthly/weekly/daily and ad-hoc reporting of profit and other management reporting requirements

Managing and developing relationships with transactional clients including those serviced over e-platforms for flow-based business

Occasional business travel requirement

Working hours flexibility required to meet the demands of the business

Completing other ad-hoc tasks as directed

Key areas of accountability:

Strongest levels of integrity and compliance based on the FX Code of Conduct

Development of financial market knowledge and understanding

Accountability to deliver on budget and other targets

Accurate and efficient reporting, database and spreadsheet management

Direct client FX dealing and coverage, primarily with Japanese subsidiary entities

Efficient and accurate market dealing across various channels/execution services

Deliver superior customer experiences by developing and maintaining outstanding relationships with both new and existing customers

Demonstrate superior communication skills and strong team player

MUFG has a strict policy requiring adherence to risk, compliance, KYC/AML, confidentiality, OH & S and other policies and procedures

What we are looking for:

This role requires a fluent Japanese-speaker.

The successful candidate will ideally have 2-5 years’ experience in Foreign Exchange markets (banks, corporate treasury). Exposure to an FX sales related role is preferable, ideally with existing client relationships across Oceania.

You’ll have strong Excel spreadsheet / PowerPoint skills, research and analytical skills.

Strong communication skills and a client-centric focus are essential. You’ll be proactive and eager to learn, able to multi-task and work both autonomously and as part of a team.

You’ll have an undergraduate degree in Economics/Business related field, and AFMA Accreditation is preferred, or a desire to obtain.
