What you’ll be doing
Primary responsibilities of the Associate, Global Credit Finance (“GCF”) include structuring, negotiating, obtaining required credit and other approvals and the ongoing management and monitoring/reporting of loan portfolio financing trades. The Associate will also work with Clients, Sales/Distribution, Risk, Treasury, and other Stakeholders in the screening, underwriting and structuring process for new and existing financing opportunities. The Associate will be part of a global team of dynamic, hardworking, production focused team players based in Toronto, NY, and London.

How you’ll succeed
Business development - Contribute to growth in the GCF credit financing business for our Pension, Insurance, Asset Manager, Private Sponsors and Hedge Fund clients.
Credit financing – Exposure to and familiarity to various types of financing structures including high yield corporate bonds, broadly syndicated loans and middle market loans, SRT and structured credit securities. Participate in leverage and RWA resource optimization decisions for Global Credit Finance book.
Relationship building - Work in the spirit of transparency and collaboration with our partners in Capital Markets Risk Management, Operations, Treasury, Accounting, Tax and Legal.
Governance and regulatory adherence - Demonstrate a keen understanding of current and developing regulatory issues, as well as CIBC policies, guidelines and procedures. Work effectively within CIBC’s corporate governance practices and policies to ensure that all potential risks are appropriately addressed and that CIBC legal/reputational issues and shareholder objectives are covered.
Who you are
You can demonstrate a minimum of 2+ years related experience in commercial lending, corporate lending, leveraged finance, corporate finance or credit portfolio management. Working knowledge of global markets products, particularly repo, TRS, structured credit assets, loan warehouse and CLO structures. Programming skills (Python, VBA) would be an advantage.
You demonstrate superior communication and negotiation skills. Experience with powerpoint slides is preferred.
