Trueline's client, a respected and design-driven structural engineering consulting firm, is seeking an Associate Principal - Structural Engineering to join their team in Los Angeles, CA. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a California-licensed SE who thrives on complex building design, team mentorship, and client engagement, and who is ready to play a visible role in shaping high-impact projects across the region.
What You'll Do as the Associate Principal - Structural Engineering:
• Lead structural design efforts for large, technically complex steel and reinforced concrete building projects
• Oversee structural analysis, calculations, and preparation of construction documents
• Provide hands-on technical direction for seismic design, evaluation, and retrofit initiatives
• Guide and mentor engineers and BIM professionals to ensure quality and performance
• Partner with architects, contractors, and consultants to support coordinated project delivery
• Serve as a senior point of contact for clients, building long-term, trusted relationships
• Support business development efforts including proposals, pursuits, and interviews
• Ensure compliance with California building codes and regulatory agency requirements
Must-Haves as the Associate Principal - Structural Engineering:
• 12+ years of structural engineering experience focused on building design
• Active California SE license
• Deep experience designing large steel and reinforced concrete structures
• Proven ability to lead project teams and deliver complex building projects
• Strong client-facing experience with a track record of relationship development
• Advanced expertise in structural analysis and building systems
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Authorization to work in the United States
Nice-to-Haves as the Associate Principal - Structural Engineering:
• Experience with DSA and HCAI projects
• Background in seismic evaluation and retrofit using ASCE 41
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering from a US university
• Subject matter expertise in a specific building type or structural system
Our Client Offers:
• Base salary range of $160,000 - $190,000 plus performance-based bonus
