LA 2028 is a non-profit public benefit corporation. The specific purpose of the organization is to improve and enhance the quality of life of the residents of the City of Los Angeles, California, and the surrounding metropolitan area through the hosting of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. Its core activities include: (1) planning, organization, financing, promotion, sponsorship, hosting and staging the Games, (2) raising funds to be used to plan, organize, finance, promote, sponsor, host or stage the Games, and (3) creating and implementing sustainability and legacy programs for the Games.

United States Olympic and Paralympic Properties (USOPP) is a commercial joint venture between the Los Angeles Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2028 (LA 2028) and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC). The USOPP is the sole entity charged with marketing and selling combined commercial assets, including; rights to the 2022, 2024, 2026 and 2028 U.S Olympic and Paralympic Teams and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.

Rights Approvals, Associate

Job Description
As a key contributor on the Commercial Partnerships team, the Rights Approvals Associate will play a central role in ensuring that Partner activations align with contractual rights, commercial guidelines, and the broader strategic vision of our organization. This role will directly support the execution of integrated marketing campaigns by managing the review and approval process across a high volume of Commercial Partner creative executions and assets.

Through this work, the Associate will help bring impactful brand moments to life for our sponsors, shaping how Team USA and LA28's Commercial Partners show up in market and elevating how fans engage with the Olympic and Paralympic movements.

USOPP will be hiring three Associate positions, and each role will report to a separate Director within the Partnership Marketing team.


Job Responsibilities
Act as the primary point of contact to manage the end-to-end commercial partner marketing approvals process, reviewing assets for guidelines compliance, brand consistency and contractual alignment.
Proactively monitor and advise on the use of Team USA and LA28 (Organizing Committee) intellectual property in the U.S. market.
Act as a key liaison between internal stakeholders (legal, sales, brand, communications, creative) and Partner or agency executives to facilitate timely and efficient approvals
Serve as primary liaison to the Rights Activation team at the International Olympic Committee
Maintain active and strong relations with the marketing team of the International Paralympic Committee
Translate partnership agreements into clear rights usage guidance that supports seamless activation by our sponsors
Build strong relationships with assigned Partners and their agencies
Maintain and track accurate records of all submissions, feedback and approvals, ensuring that deadlines are met and that projects progress in line with agreed timelines in digital asset management systems
Interpret and ensure compliance with Commercial Guidelines and legal requirements across all creative submissions.
Communicate proposed feedback and assist with identifying compliant solutions with assigned Partners
Identify potential risks, conflicts, or opportunities within submitted assets and provide proactive recommendations
Support Ambush Protection and Rule 40 processes in collaboration with legal team
Support Commercial Partnerships and Rights Approvals leadership in developing and refining Commercial Guidelines on a rolling basis
Deliver guidelines training as requested to Commercial Partners
Support the development of best practice resources and training tools that help Partners activate more effectively and independently
Support the Partnership Marketing team with contract-related documentation and compliance tracking, as necessary.
Background and Requirements
2+ years of experience in sports business or related marketing environment – preferably managing brand creative and promotion of intellectual property
Previous work experience in client advisory, account management and/or strategy development required
Strong operational and program execution skills required
Strong cross-functional skills, and a capacity for creativity/innovation
Excellent presentation preparation skills and ability to work successfully with varied audiences (colleagues, business partners, collaborators, customers, and senior members of the organization)
Commitment to understanding industry trends, with a particular curiosity for global technology sector and the leaders in it
Ability and willingness to learn quickly, ability to deal with complex issues in an organized way and quickly grasp concepts
Ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines
Clear communicator with attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization
Possess personal drive to start a project and see it through to completion
Excellent knowledge and command of Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Passion for sport and, especially, the Olympic and Paralympic movements

Education / Training / Certifications

Bachelor's degree in sports marketing, marketing, advertising, communications or related field of study - or equivalent work experience

The annual base salary range for this position is $70,000.00-75,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
