We are seeking a licensed Smog Repair Technician to join our team at our shop in Mission Viejo, CA. In this role, you will perform diagnostics and repairs on vehicles that have failed smog inspections, ensuring compliance with California's stringent emissions standards. The ideal candidate is experienced in automotive diagnostics and repair, with a focus on emissions systems, and is committed to providing outstanding service to our customers.

Responsibilities:
• Diagnose emissions-related issues in vehicles that fail smog inspections using advanced diagnostic tools.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on emissions systems, including catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, evaporative systems, and other components.
• Ensure all vehicles meet California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) emissions standards after repairs.
• Communicate repair needs, cost estimates, and repair timelines effectively with customers.
• Maintain accurate documentation of diagnostics, repairs, and emissions compliance as required by BAR regulations.
• Collaborate with smog check technicians to retest vehicles after repairs and ensure compliance.
• Stay updated on California emissions regulations, diagnostic tools, and industry advancements.
• Follow all workplace safety protocols and environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
• Valid Smog Repair Technician license issued by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR).
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications (e.g., ASE) is a plus.
• Strong understanding of California emissions standards and diagnostic procedures.
• Proven experience in diagnosing and repairing vehicle emissions systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and customer service abilities.
• Physical capability to lift equipment, stand for extended periods, and work in a hands-on automotive repair environment.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with hybrid and electric vehicle emissions systems.
• Familiarity with STAR Program standards and procedures.
• Advanced automotive certifications in diagnostics or repair.
