Job Description: BMS Hardware Engineer
Position: BMS Hardware Engineer
Experience Level: 5-6 Years
Location: Noida, Uttar Pradesh
Industry: Electric Vehicle (EV)
Job Overview:
The BMS Hardware Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating hardware for the Battery Management System (BMS) in our electric vehicles. The candidate will work on hardware architectures for battery protection, monitoring, and energy management, ensuring that the system is robust, efficient, and scalable. The ideal candidate should be passionate about EV technology, have hands-on experience in BMS hardware development, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup culture.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and Development: Design and develop hardware for Battery Management Systems (BMS), including the PCB design, battery protection circuits, voltage and temperature sensing, and current monitoring circuits.
• Battery Protection: Work on battery protection circuits and integrate hardware solutions that ensure the safety, longevity, and performance of battery systems.
• System Integration: Collaborate closely with software and systems engineers to ensure seamless integration of the BMS hardware with the overall electric vehicle powertrain system.
• Hardware Optimization: Perform hardware optimization to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure reliable operation under varying environmental and load conditions.
• Testing and Validation: Lead hardware testing and validation efforts, including lab tests, environmental tests, and integration testing, to ensure the BMS hardware meets performance and safety standards.
• Troubleshooting and Debugging: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware failures, performance degradation, and integration problems.
• Component Selection: Select and evaluate key components for the BMS, including microcontrollers, sensors, power devices, and protection ICs, ensuring compatibility and performance in EV applications.
• Safety Standards Compliance: Ensure that the BMS hardware meets relevant automotive safety standards such as ISO 26262 and other applicable industry standards.
• Documentation: Create detailed technical documentation for hardware designs, testing protocols, and design changes.
• Collaboration: Work in a cross-functional team, collaborating with software engineers, system engineers, and product teams to deliver high-quality, integrated BMS solutions.
• Innovation: Contribute to the continuous improvement of BMS hardware architecture and innovation in EV battery management systems.
Key Requirements:
• Experience: 5-6 years of experience in BMS hardware design and development, specifically in the electric vehicle or related industries.
• Core Skills: Strong expertise in PCB design, battery protection circuits, voltage and current sensing, and thermal management for BMS hardware.
• Startup Experience: Proven track record of working in a fast-paced startup environment, where rapid iteration, adaptability, and hands-on problem-solving are essential.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of battery management systems (BMS), electrical circuits, and hardware development processes. Experience with battery protection ICs and fuel gauges is preferred.
• Tools and Software: Proficiency in hardware design tools such as Altium Designer, Eagle, or similar PCB design software. Experience with simulation tools (e.g., SPICE) for circuit modeling and analysis is a plus.
• Communication Protocols: Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN) for BMS integration with vehicle systems.
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify, diagnose, and resolve hardware-related issues quickly and effectively.
• Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with lithium-ion or other battery technologies commonly used in electric vehicles.
• Familiarity with safety standards and their application to automotive hardware design.
• Knowledge of thermal management solutions for battery systems
