JOB OVERVIEW
The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) is looking for a highly motivated and creative individual to help the Digital Engagement Team grow our online French-speaking community, while engaging with our followers, fostering a safe and informative online environment and amplify the stories of our community through digital and social media.
The Digital Content Specialist, Bilingual will support with a range of tasks across the digital engagement team, namely French-first digital content development for cancer.ca, and social media support. This cross-functional role will be split between the two functions, with 75% of the role focused on digital content and 25% of the role focused on social media support. In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing French-first content for our French-language social media channels and blog, as well as adapting English content for the organization’s French-language audience (e.g. for our signature events, digital fundraising campaigns, blog content). The successful candidate will be passionate about digital storytelling, always looking for innovative, unique, and compelling ways to tell our story online.
A storyteller at heart, you’ll also help develop content that engages audiences in the organizations fundraising campaigns, driving awareness about the impact of cancer research, empowering people with cancer information from a trusted source, and uniting those who care about cancer to advocate for policies that impact healthcare in Canada. You will contribute to the development of content strategies in French, including processes that help define the organization’s voice on both digital and social media for French Canadians who care about cancer. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the digital team and cross-functionally in the organization to develop innovative ways to tell our story, promote and protect our brand and engage our audience.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Utilizing your strong understanding of current Quebec cultural climate in order to work with the Digital Copywriting Specialist (English) to adapt content from English to French for our large national campaigns, like CIBC Run for the Cure. This includes digital copywriting for email, website, and social media;
Providing support for medium to small sized digital fundraising campaigns, including French content review and consultation when needed;
Providing French support for blogs in collaboration with the Digital Engagement and Quebec communications team. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity not only to review and adapt, but also to write creative blog content in French;
Contribute to the development of French review processes to ensure accurate and high-quality content and timely review and approval;
Ensure that approved language is always used and best practices are followed when developing content across all channels;
Ensure brand consistency and high-quality writing across various digital channels;
Audit French blog content to ensure it meets quality assurance, accessibility and search engine optimization (SEO) best practices and track and make updates using the content management system (CMS) as required;
Work with our Story Centre to identify opportunities to tell French-first stories that bring to life the impact of the Canadian Cancer Society;
Utilizing your strong understanding of current Quebec cultural climate in order to ideate on French-first content based on the organizational priorities (e.g. sharing stories of our impact, cancer information, stories and content related to our signature events, like Run for the Cure and Relay For Life);
Participate in reviewing social media performance, including at the conclusion of campaigns, helping identify areas of opportunity for improvement;
Developing visual assets for our social media channels, including vertical-first content with native features for Instagram stories;
Part of this role will also include on-site event participation and content capture in Montreal and Quebec, as well as content capture at and around the office when needed, bringing more local, and personal angles to our French social media pages, and supporting our presence in the Quebec market (for example, if we decide to do a streeter-style video on the streets of Montreal, you might participate in content capture and helping interview our staff, members of the public, etc. In the case of an event, such as a fundraising event or research lab tour, you might participate in content capture for social media);
Staying up to date with social media and digital content trends, including competitors and platform best practices, and using those trends and best practices to come up with innovative and creative ideas to increase engagement and grow our audiences;
Work with teams across the organization to coordinate content creation for a range of topics and goals. You’ll talk to teams across the organization to source imagery, key messages, and information related to social media and blog posts that align with organizational priorities;
Ensure brand consistency and high-quality writing across various digital channels;
Assist with other duties as required;
