Building Maintenance (F/T)

Hoco Hotels is seeking a reliable Building Maintenance at The Windsor Hotel and The Stratford Hotel to keep the guests safe and the properties secure. In this role, our engineer will protect and maintain the hotel itself, the property it’s on, and the surrounding grounds. They attend to daily maintenance and repairs, from plumbing problem-solving to drywall repair.

Requirements/What we are looking for:

Five (5) years of building/preventative maintenance experience is required, hotel environment or multi-family preferred.
Previous trade experience required: i.e. painting, repairing drywall, basic plumbing (i.e. changing toilets, faucets, tiling/tile repair), basic electrical, basic carpentry, and HVAC.
Flexibility in working any shift as required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Please note that the hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
Good computer and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Building Maintenance:

Shall respond to guest requests to carry out repairs and maintenance in guest rooms and public areas including, but not limited to, toilets, bathtubs & sinks, a/c units, TV, remote controls, windows, furniture, switches, receptacles, light bulbs, etc.
Shall maintain all work areas, mechanical and electrical rooms in a clean and safe condition.
Be responsible for coordinating with others to maintain an adequate stock of supplies and parts such as needed for day-to-day maintenance.
Shall work in compliance with codes and Ontario’s Occupational Health & Safety Act.
Assist with preventative maintenance and complete report work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, etc., to maintain the hotel and keep the product quality standard.
Assist in checking electrical systems such as air conditioning controls, television sets, and lighting systems, and make minor repairs and/or replacements.
Assist in checking and making routine repairs and assist on major repairs of all hotel equipment, including small appliances, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, boilers, HVAC, hand and power tools and general plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipelines, toilets and sinks, and kitchen and laundry equipment.
Maintain the building exterior and "curb appeal" (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, painting, gardening).
Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows and counters. Paint and finish furniture and fixtures if needed.
Respond courteously to all guest questions, complaints, and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
Dispose of garbage and recycling in accordance with property policy.
Carry out preventative maintenance duties allocated on a daily basis in accordance with departmental requirements, contributing to the smooth running of departments and achieving guest satisfaction.
Assist with the testing of fire alarms, emergency lighting etc. on a routine basis in line with property policy. Change smoke detectors, batteries, etc.
the completion of work to minimize on “down” rooms and contribute to the overall profitability of the property.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
Identify and rectify general maintenance issues within the property;
Respond to guest requests in a courteous, efficient, and safe manner;
Respond to emergency situations including fire alarms, power failures;
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Other duties as assigned.
The starting rate of $24.50 per hour, $26.50 per hour after +0 days of probation, full-rate of pay is $28.50 per hour.
