Our people are passionate about their communities and connected to their teams. They’re motivated by our genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion, and our clear, compelling plan for our global city: Sustainable Sydney 2030 – 2050 Continuing the Vision.
Be part of a purpose-led organisation, with care at its core. You’ll make a difference by acting in the best interests of our communities and city. Be better together with collaborative and inclusive partnerships. Embrace possibilities and be open to new ideas and creating bold solutions.
About the role
A rare opportunity is available for qualified and enthusiastic certifiers to join the Building Certification Team as a Building Surveyor. The team primarily processes applications for alterations and additions to all classes of buildings as well as large volumes of temporary structures located on public land. The team prides itself on it’s dedicated, positive, and collaborative culture where individual effort is part of something much bigger – creating great things for our city’s dynamic future.
In this role you'll:
assess applications for construction, complying development and occupation certificates for all classes of development
carry out critical stage inspection and assessment functions as the appointed principal certifier
assess applications for construction hoardings and other activities on the public way under the Local Government Act 1++3 and Roads Act 1++3 and Council policies
provide internal building related advice to assist in the determination of development applications
utilise the support offered by the City to undertake the necessary training and project experience required to continually work towards increasing the level of individual registration held under the Building and Development Certifiers Act 2018.
We’re looking for someone with:
a minimum class of registration of ‘Building Surveyor – Restricted (Class 1 and 10 Buildings)’ under the Building and Development Certifiers Act 2018
experience working in building certification or building surveying in either a Local Government or private practice setting
knowledge of NSW legislation relating to development and building control and the National Construction Code.
