Business Development Manager

Hybrid working environment, Sydney location
An exciting career - as our business grows, so do the opportunities for our Team Members

Woolworths Group, (the largest retailer in Australia and New Zealand), introduced Woolworths Market Plus (WMP) in October 2023. This new platform allows businesses to sell and manage their products across Woolworths Group's four main marketplaces: Big W Market, Everyday Market, Everyday Rewards Shop, and MyDeal.

WMP streamlines the process for sellers by providing a single point of access for managing their products across these platforms. Woolworths Market Plus operates primarily from three hub locations: Melbourne, Sydney, and Manila.

As a Business Development Manager for Woolworths MarketPlus, you'll drive growth by recruiting new Selling Partners across Australia. You'll collaborate closely with our banner leads to identify and select Sellers who align with our product and range strategy, while upholding the Woolworths brand's high standards for quality, safety, and reputation. This is a Sydney-based role requiring three days a week in the office.

The key to this role is ensuring your pipeline is a dynamic source of new and exciting products that consistently surprise and delight our customers, giving us a distinct edge over competitors.

Your proven commercial experience and ability to build mutually beneficial, long-term partnerships with sellers will be key to delivering market-leading, ever-evolving product ranges that both unlock growth and exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities include:

Building our seller base: You'll create a strong pipeline of potential sellers, continuously focusing on prospecting, generating leads, and converting them to meet our current and future product needs.
Cultivating strategic partnerships: You'll foster long-term relationships with top brands through networking and attending key industry events.
Driving market differentiation: By understanding the competitive landscape, you'll identify emerging trends and opportunities to ensure our product ranges are innovative and stand out to customers.
Enhancing seller technology: You'll provide valuable recommendations to our product teams regarding essential, category-specific technology improvements.
Collaborating on campaigns: You'll partner with internal seller teams to pinpoint sellers and product opportunities that perfectly complement and support our major marketing campaigns and events.

About You:

You're an outgoing and driven individual with a passion for continuous improvement and a knack for spotting opportunities to create a differentiated offering. You love what you do and have fun along the way! You also bring:

3-5 years of sales or account management experience
Strong negotiation skills
A thorough and detail-oriented approach, coupled with genuine curiosity
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
The capacity to collaborate effectively with your team, product, and internal business owners to achieve mutually beneficial agreements.

What you’ll experience

Our Team Members are at the heart of everything we do and we're always looking for ways to support your career journey and reward great work:

Team discounts across our range of Woolworths Group brands you know and love and a robust rewards program that celebrates and incentivises purpose-driven work.
A range of programs to help you prioritise and manage your wellbeing, including 24/7 access to the Sonder app.
