The Carpenter is responsible for building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, furniture, and other items using different types of materials including wood and steel
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches and building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and raw materials required
Shapes or cuts materials to specified measurements, using hand tools or power saw
Assembles and fastens materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins or glue
Repairs and maintains cabinets, doors, frameworks, and floors using woodworking machines and hand/power tools
Ensures proper alignment of structures using rulers, spirit levels and theodolite
Ensures work is up to code and specifications
Provides outstanding customer service while completing carpentry work
Serves as an HBW advocate and ambassador in every interaction with coworkers, customers and the public
Complies with all HBW regulations and rules and adheres to all safety standards
Performs any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall Building Services Division
