We are seeking a Cashier to become an integral part of our team! You will be responsible for assisting customers through the checkout process, ensuring the accuracy of the transaction, handling cash, and most importantly... ensuring our customers leave with a smile on their face! Training and mentors are always available to help our cashiers feel comfortable fulfilling their role. At Milam's, your success is our success as we work to serve the community and grow together as one family! Cashiers often develop into other roles within the company. Many members of our management team started as cashiers with Milam's Markets!

Our Cashiers are the most visible associates to our customers, so they play a critical role in providing premier customer service. Because they ring up groceries, they also play an essential role in our profitability. We rely on them to ensure the correct price is charged for each item sold and provide the correct change to our customers.

Contributions

Provides premier customer service, including greeting customers and answering their questions

Weighs and scans products

Accepts payment and provides change when appropriate

Handles cash and other forms of tender accurately

Proficient in all aspects of bagging

Maintains a neat and clean register area, cleans belt and register regularly

Assists in other duties as assigned, including maintaining store conditions and stocking products as necessary

Performs ID checks in accordance with store policies

Qualifications

Ability to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service

Ability to read, write and perform simple math

Ability to interpret and follow instructions

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to work well with others and be an effective team member

A passion for serving people

Work Conditions

Cashiers perform their duties primarily at the front end of the store, with exposure to outside weather conditions at times. Work involves standing at a register for prolonged periods, repetitive arm and hand movements, moving and lifting product, and continuous interaction with customers and fellow associates.
