WHO YOU ARE
Whether you are experienced or looking to advance in your career, this is a key role leading our team’s functions business, Hostco. Responsible for day-to-day set up and execution of functions and events. You will supervise schedules, resources and task allocation, this hands-on role involves some shifts on weekends, nights and public holidays and the appropriate control of costs and labour to successfully deliver on client’s needs.
If you are highly organized, want an opportunity, have an eye for detail and passionate about hospitality we need you. This is an autonomous casual role working within a team and reporting to the Functions Manager. Whilst we cannot guarantee hours currently this role can achieve between 25-38 hours of work per week.
Supervision of our function staff team – assisting in rostering, development and day-to-day performance coaching and management
Event management, ensuring our events are held to our Gold Licensed standard. This includes liaising with the Sales and Events team before handover to ensure all details are clear and confirmed prior to the function and to ensure that the event is delivered in line with the client’s expectations.
Keeping a high level of attention to detail with an excellent ability to multi-task and prioritise
Instruct and assist with set up of rooms according to floor plans and function requirements
Monitor cost control of stock and staffing
Undertake administration for the day-to-day running of the department (including payroll, HACCP, invoicing, inventory management and other internal business systems)
Training of function and wait staff
Liaising with the Functions manager to ensure you have a thorough understanding of the event requirements to deliver an exceptional function
This role would be ideal for someone looking to work in a fast-paced environment and further develop their managerial skills
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Experience in function and bar service with a desire for fantastic customer delivery
Ability to show leadership experience or desire to be a leader
Demonstrated understanding of client and customer service and high level of verbal and written communication skills
Have a passion for food and wine and desire to learn
Experience in working with integrated AV systems with a good degree of IT trouble shooting expertise preferred
Desire to manage client needs and forming ongoing relationships
Flexibility with regards to roster and hours worked
Understanding of HACCP procedures or food safety programs a plus, however, training is available
Current Responsible Service of ******* (RSA) competency photo card
DESIRABLE SKILLS
Tertiary qualifications such as event and hospitality management or similar business course a plus.
Two years of previous demonstrated leadership experience of at least 10 wait / bar staff a plus
Two years’ experience leading high volume event / wedding / conference type functions a plus
A general knowledge of industrial and Work Health and Safety legislation or willingness to learn
Current NSW provisional or above driver’s licence

$33.40 per hour + plus loading after 6pm +12% Superannuation
HOURS OF WORK
Hours of work will vary week to week and will span over 7 days, rotating roster up to 38 hours per week.
