ROLE
The Essential Responsibilities of a Driver - Residential Extra include:
Performing daily routine safety checks and pre-trip inspections on assigned vehicles.
Ensuring all safety measures appropriate for the operation of assigned vehicles are consistently and efficiently applied.
Operating vehicles in all assigned service areas in a timely and efficient manner.
Loading all assigned materials according to normal operating procedures and reporting any violations to supervisors.
Ensuring hazardous materials are not accepted.
Assuring materials being transported comply within legal load limits.
Reporting all accidents and/or safety violations to the appropriate authority in a timely manner.
Maintaining good customer relations and positively influencing the community's perception of the Company throughout all applicable service areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
One year of commercial driving experience (Two years of commercial driving experience preferred).
Principles and practices of job site safety, potential job hazards, and state and local regulations including applicable waste regulations.
Basic computer programs.
A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
A valid Class B Driver's License.
Skill and/or Ability
The ability to perform continuous physical exertions such as repetitive lifting, pushing, and pulling receptacles as part of a rigorous daily routine.
The ability to mount and dismount the truck.
The ability to perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
The ability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
The ability to work in all weather extremes, including extreme hot or cold, wet, or dry conditions.
The ability to promote the WASTE ZERO philosophy by making the best and highest use of all resources.
The ability to work under pressure, handle stressful situations, and maintain flexibility.
The ability to maintain high levels of activity or productivity; operating with effectiveness and determination over extended periods of time.
The ability to understand safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
The ability to consistently build knowledge and expertise about the current job.
The ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and customers. The ability to communicate using a two-way radio or similar device.
