Leadership Role for Experienced Registered Nurse in Mental Health


Te Awakura is a 64-bed adult acute inpatient unit that provides 24-hour care for consumers with mental illness.


We are seeking an experienced registered nurse to lead our team and contribute to the ongoing development of excellent practice and the professional workforce within the service.


The successful candidate will have a proven ability to lead, support the team to develop excellent skills, and ensure the operational objectives are carried out in line with the Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora vision.


The role has a function that is both clinical and operational, requiring excellent clinical credibility and the ability to ensure the operational objectives are carried out in line with the Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora vision.


Key responsibilities include:



Leading the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care and services to consumers;

Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards;

Providing guidance and support to nursing staff to improve their clinical skills and knowledge;

Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans that meet the needs of consumers;

Monitoring and evaluating the quality of care provided and making recommendations for improvement.


Requirements:



Must hold or have commenced the postgraduate pathway with a focus on mental health nursing;

Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and have Mental Health Scope with a current Annual Practising Certificate;

Proven ability to lead and manage teams, including experience in relevant management and/or leadership roles;

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build successful relationships with colleagues, consumers, and families/whanau;

Strategic thinking and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration;

Familiar with operational and financial management.
