Climate Readiness Coordinator
BASIS: FULL TIME, PERMANENT | CLOSING DATE: JUNE 6, 2025 AT +:00AM
Responsible for supporting the implementation of the City’s Emergency Management and FireSmart programs, including risk assessments, mitigation projects, and public education efforts. This position coordinates EOC readiness and serves as the main City contact for the FireSmart program..
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Community Safety & Development, the Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the City of Castlegar’s emergency preparedness and climate readiness initiatives and is essential to advancing the City’s wildfire preparedness efforts. The Coordinator will develop, implement, and administer FireSmart programs in the City of Castlegar, lead public engagement and education and coordinate community emergency preparedness activities. The Coordinator also works with the Director in developing strategies to reduce risks from climate change.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a Diploma in Resource Management, Emergency Management, Public Administration or a related discipline, and a minimum of 2 years experience in local government including emergency planning, public safety, emergency preparedness or climate change programs.
This position is a CUPE Local 2262 position with an attractive hourly rate of $41.45 (2024 rate) and excellent benefit package upon successful completion of probation. Please visit our website atwww.castlegar.ca for a full job description and information about our community.
