Job Summary
The Team
The Procurement Services – Special Projects team is a newly established, growing unit within the larger Procurement Services team and currently comprised of two Procurement Specialists. The team plays a crucial role in managing projects to procure Social Services, collaborating with various programs across the Ministry that engage external service providers for the care of children, youth, and families. This team supports large or complex projects, including Ministry transformational initiatives and those requiring long-term structural support or strategic provincial integration. As part of a highly collaborative environment, the team works closely with various program area clients, partner agencies, and colleagues from across the Finance and Corporate Services Division. The team's efforts play an important role in enabling the delivery of high-quality, community-focused services to meet the needs of children, youth and families in BC..
The Role
As a Project Assistant on this team, you will be integral in administering and monitoring high volumes of partner communication, managing project documentation and templates, tracking progress and reporting, and providing administrative support for assigned project components. Your responsibilities will include close collaboration with Procurement and Contract Specialists to ensure efficient project execution. Key priorities for this role include delivering excellent customer service, demonstrating strong organizational skills and attention to detail, effective work prioritization, and working collaboratively within a complex environment. Your contributions will support the Ministry's mission to provide safe, healthy, and nurturing environments for children and families across British Columbia, ensuring that procurement and contracting processes align with the Ministry’s strategic goals and enhance service delivery.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
Completion of courses in project management.
One (1) year experience working in a computerized environment using various computer applications and data bases. (For example: Microsoft Office applications including Word Excel, Outlook, Lync) for word processing, spread sheeting, data entry, email and video teleconferencing.
Six (6) months experience providing project management support services.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferences may be given to applicants with:
Two (2) years experience providing project management support services.
Completion of courses in procurement.
Six (6) months experience providing procurement support services.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 4 days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
