The Role
As a Cloud Security Engineer, your expertise will be critical in safeguarding cloud-based government services. You will:
Deploy and manage security solutions in Azure, including Sentinel, MS Defender, SIEM, EDR, CASB, and Data Loss Prevention
Develop detailed architecture documentation, ensuring security measures align with government and industry standards
Automate security processes and integrate continuous monitoring, reducing risk and improving response times
Work hands-on with Azure DevOps, Logic Apps, Service Bus, and API Management to ensure security compliance at every layer
Liaise with cross-functional teams - security analysts, architects, and DevOps engineers - to implement secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions
Ensure compliance with the Digital Transformation Agency’s security standards, making sure solutions remain robust against emerging threats
The Ideal Person
You’re an experienced Cloud Security Engineer who values structure, clear priorities, and working within a well-resourced and technically strong team.
You want work that is engaging, meaningful, and backed by a stable employer.
You have:
5+ years of hands-on Azure cloud security experience, with a deep understanding of Microsoft security solutions
A strong grasp of government security requirements, risk management frameworks, and compliance best practices
Experience securing enterprise-scale cloud environments, focusing on threat detection, incident response, and automation
The ability to collaborate across technical and business teams, translating security needs into real-world solutions
A methodical and proactive approach, ensuring systems are not just secure today but future-proofed against emerging risks
Salary / Rate
Contract role – 40 hours per week
$145/hr - $175/hr incl. Super
Flexible working arrangements available
Australian Citizenship required with eligibility to obtain Baseline Security Clearance
