The Opportunity
The Communications Branch is seeking a creative and highly organized Communications Consultant with strong writing and social media skills for a permanent full-time position. They will:
Create a range of communications products including news releases, speeches, key messages, web content, blog posts, and social media content, speaking notes, eNewsletters, presentations, and other written content.
Create content for the ministry’s social media channels and deliver photo and video content that will promote ministry activities and tell the ministry’s story.
Work closely and collaboratively with ministry officials to organize events, promote ministry activities, and tell the ministry’s story using a variety of communication tools.
Create and implement strategic communications plans that will help create awareness of the ministry’ services and programs.
Work independently and as a part of a team to support the ministry’s internal and external communications and marketing activities.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be organized, flexible, and able to prioritize and manage multiple projects within a busy work environment and will have:
A keen eye for detail:
Knowledge of strategic communications and marketing theories and principles, techniques, methods, and tools:
Experience creating clear written, verbal, and visual communication materials that inform, educate, and promote understanding:
The ability to plan and execute events and help inform and educate the public on ministry programs and services; and,
Experience managing a social media account and developing strategies to increase engagement.
Preference is given to individuals with:
Knowledge of graphic design principles, techniques, methods and programs, including Adobe Creative Suite; and
Knowledge of photography and videography.
Typically, the knowledge and competencies required for this position would be attained through a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field of study, combined with relevant work experience, or several years of experience working in the communications field.
A valid Saskatchewan’s driver’s license is required as occasional travel within the province will be required.
