About the role

Are you passionate about delivering quality and meaningful communications to the community? Want to be surrounded by a fun and forward-thinking communications team? An exciting opportunity has opened up at the City of Canada Bay for a Communications Coordinator to provide strategic media liaison and develop successful communication plans. In this role you will provide a range of high-quality written, social, video and other communications to support projects, operations and Council strategies.



About You

As the Communications Coordinator you will play a key role in developing and delivering strategic communication plans for Council initiatives. In this role you will:

Write media releases and create other communication materials including newsletter content, social media posts, and printed collateral. This also involves pitching to media and coordinating media opportunities
Plan and deliver a range of internal communications to support organisational objectives and employee engagement; and
Plan and implement high quality communication activities and plans for Council projects that enhance Council’s corporate brand


Key Requirements

Degree qualifications (or similar) in communications, journalism, or marketing
Minimum of two to three years’ experience in a similar role, including experience in planning and implementing strategic communications plans and dealing with media
Strong writing and copy-editing skills and experience using a range of social media platforms
Experience partnering with internal stakeholders and managing multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines
An understanding of online communication and website management, as well as a working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and InDesign are highly desirable
A current Driver’s Licence is required.
