Primary objective

To support effective regulation of the Petroleum Act 1+84, Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act 1+81 , Energy Pipelines Act 1+81,

and Geothermal Energy Act 200+ (collectively ‘the Energy Legislation’ in the Northern Territory) .

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Work with the Energy Development Branch to develop a records and information management system that meets

requirements for the effective administration of the Energy Legislation.

2. Ensure administrative processes, including the creation and maintenance of records, adequately meet requirements for

accurately documenting compliance and standards for legal acceptance.

3. Develop and maintain the suite of templates required to administer compliance-based activities associated with

administration of the Energy Legislation.

4. Provide high level administrative support to the professional and technical staff who manage the statutory requirements

established by the Energy Legislation.

5. Coordinate reports, correspondence and memoranda relating to compliance and regulatory activities.

6. Administer the Energy Development Branch’s secure evidence storage and property register to ensure chain of custody

requirements are met and accurate records are kept regarding the seizure, handling, storage, and disposal of items.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Experience in records and information management, including proficiency in data management software.

2. An ability to interpret and apply legislation in a regulatory setting.

3. Demonstrated experience in providing high level administrative support, including the preparation, review and

coordination of high-quality briefs, memorandums, and internal/external correspondence.

4. A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products that includes the ability to develop and format Word documents

and Excel spreadsheets.

5. Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with the capacity to work under pressure while maintaining

quality end products.

6. Experience working with sensitive information and a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality as appropriate.

7. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, whilst contributing to cross-functional teams.

Desirable

1. Experience in investigative practices and processes, including documentation and evidence-based requirements.

2. Tertiary qualifications in a field relevant to the position.

3. Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or an ability to obtain.
