We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee the accounting operations of three of our stores and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting for these stores in the group. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting principles and practices, with proficiency in various accounting software. This role requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. The role is based out of Edmonton but some travel, within Alberta, will be required to visit these stores.
Duties
Manage all aspects of the accounting department, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
Prepare accurate financial statements and reports in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Conduct account analysis and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
Develop and manage budgets, forecasting future financial performance based on historical data and market trends.
Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring timely preparation of financial reports.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation is preferred.
Proven experience as a Controller or similar role in accounting management.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including budgeting and account reconciliation.
Knowledge of PBS dealer management considered an asset.
Experience in dealership accounting considered an asset.
Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Exceptional communication skills for collaboration across departments.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
