Description

Our prestigious nonprofit client on the south side of Nashville is seeking a Controller to join their team. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity. The Controller will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the finance department, supervising accounting and administrative staff, and ensuring the organization's fiscal activities are conducted in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Responsibilities
• Oversee daily operations of the finance department, ensuring accurate and timely fiscal administration.
• Supervise accounting and administrative staff, providing performance management in a consistent and timely manner.
• Assist in developing budget forecasts and long- and short-term financial planning.
• Manage cash flow and forecasting and direct all financial and project-based accounting.
• Ensure accurate monthly financial reports are prepared and presented as per established schedules.
• Assist independent auditors with the annual organization audit and the preparation of the organization’s annual return.
• Manage all grant billing processes, ensuring invoices are generated in compliance with relevant grant agreements.
• Ensure the organization is in compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements related to financial information and reports.
• Manage organization’s capital projects by negotiating with vendors and managing vendors to budget and timelines.
• Responsible for the organization’s Treasury Management.
• Prepare, implement, and monitor monthly and annual budgets.
• Review and implement internal control procedures.
• Develop and revise financial and managerial accounting policies and procedures.
• Provide backup support for facility-related emergencies during and after normal business hours.
• Respond to IT-related issues during and after normal business hours when necessary.

Skills
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems and CRM.
• Knowledge of Accounting Functions, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Auditing.
• Experience with Budget Processes, Financial Edge, Fund Accounting - Non-Profit, and Single Audit (non-profit).

Requirements
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Experience with Budget Processes
• Proficiency in using Financial Edge software is highly preferred
• Familiarity with Fund Accounting, particularly in a non-profit context
• Experience in Non-profit Accounting and Indirect Cost Plans
• Knowledge of A-133 Audit procedures, particularly in a non-profit context
• Bachelors in Accounting or related field is manadatory, masters degree is preferred.
