The Opportunity:
Are you looking to join a dynamic and innovative team of journalists working across Canada? Postmedia is looking to hire a temporary part-time copy editor with page design skills who has significant experience at a daily newspaper. The successful candidate will edit stories, ensuring timeliness, relevance, and creative storytelling. The candidate we are looking for is a team player and a self-starter, at ease in a deadline-oriented setting, and accustomed to fast-paced content creation. Our editor will be at ease editing features and entertainment copy but also have an affinity for pagination and print page design.
What you’ll do:
⦁ Ensure accuracy of display content in print products.
⦁ Liaise with newspapers across Postmedia to ensure content delivery matches expectations.
⦁ Edit copy, craft display type
⦁ Build print pages in a Saxo environment.
Key attributes:
⦁ At least five years of experience editing a daily newspaper, preferably working in print.
⦁ Talent for writing clever headlines with clarity that capture the essence of a story.
⦁ Keen eye for print design.
⦁ Excellent grammar, comprehension and editing skills.
⦁ Strong organizational skills with good attention to detail.
⦁ Experience in a fast-paced daily newsroom.
⦁ Good interpersonal communication skills.
⦁ Ability to resolve conflict and solve problems.
⦁ Proficiency in CP style
